YSS Custom shock absorber.

This shock is specificly developed for the linksystem known as “RetroRides” or “Sidewinder”

Why is this the ONLY suitable shock for this system?
  1. It has a separation piston in it, to separate the Nitro gas from the oil. When you put a shock in a horizontal position, the gas MUST be separated from the oil. If not the gas will surround your damping piston and the hydraulics will fail. The only alternative is a reservoir shock, but not 1 of the existing shocks have all the parameters right (such as hydraulic settings, spring-rate, length and mounting measurements)
  2. This shock was developed by us on a such linksystem, it has the hydraulic setting and spring-rate spot-on.
  3. It has the correct mounting measurements, top 12x30 and bottom clevis 12x30. No other seemly suitable shocks have that.
  4. The length of 305mm is the only correct length to mount the linksystem in the correct ride-height.

NOT SUITABLE ARE:
  • YSS MZ366 Bandit shock > it has no separated gas, it has not the correct mounting measurements, it has not quite the right hydraulic settings.
  • YSS MX366 Bandit shock with reservoir (more expensive) , it has not the correct mounting measurements, it has not quite the right hydraulic settings.
  • Any second hand reservoirless shock > it has no separated gas, it has not the correct mounting measurements, it has not the right hydraulic settings and spring-rate, it has not het correct length.
  • Any second hand reservoir shock, it has not the correct mounting measurements, it has not the right hydraulic settings and springrate, it has not het correct length.

Why do we state the above? Because not using the right shock can be very dangerous. We have seen many builds where people use wrong shocks. In a corner the shock moves inward, gets shorter. The shock will be tilted even over-horizontal. The gas will flow to the damping piston and surround it > your hydraulics wil fail, this is NOT what you want in a corner!!

This is why we developed this shock…. Building bikes is cool but please be safe!!

For our German and Swiss customers: this shock has no ABE, it alters the standard bike.
