On the internet we saw a lot of CX monoshock conversions. All done with different shocks from different bikes. Checking the spring-rates we noticed that there were a lot of differences between them, so this couldn't be right. So we made a file with all information we could find about these shocks, we called them: the CX files.
A lot of complaints and questions were posed by the builders about the strength of the spring on the shocks they were using, all of them were way too soft. So we purchased an old CX, made a basic mounting kit and started to develop a shock.
After this development we can now say with 100% certainty that no existing shock on the market has the right springrate. So it is NOT possible to use a second hand shock on your monoshock conversion where you put the shock straight on the rear swing-arm.
The different shocks that we developed specificly for this purpose are the only suitable shocks for this in the world.
Next to that we developed a simple, solid and safe kit to mount the shock. We have seen many builds that are scary and totally unsafe.
Best thing would be to reïnforce your swingarm from front to back, but with the kit we offer, the forces are spread out and attached to the stronger points of the swingarm.
Please don't be stubborn about the shock absorber and the mounting, please be safe, the CX is not designed as a mono shock bike.
> There is NO standard shock suitable for the CX, they are all WAY too soft, that is dangerous!
> CX swingarms tend to rust from the inside, please be carefull, they are 40 years old!!
